This year the world of classical music remembers Leonard Bernstein on the 100th anniversary of his birth.
Join Richard Ferris as he hosts a program which offers newcomers and seasoned opera lovers and everyone in between a friendly, entertaining and enlightening exploration of the work of Leonard Bernstein. The son of Jewish emigres from Ukraine Bernstein was the most celebrated and multi-talented American musician of his time. As conductor of opera and symphonic concerts worldwide he still had time to compose symphonies, operas and musicals for the Broadway stage. With the help of video excerpts from some of his compositions and his vast repertoire of works in the concert hall and opera house this program will introduce and explore the work of this remarkable musician.
